Hindi is the language of affection and love. Malayalam is the language redolent of home, Kerala, Mummy and Daddy, Ammumma and family back home… it is the sound of Malayalam that makes me ache for home and the summer mornings with the blazing sun and the blinding green. And the overarching feeling of happiness bursting in my chest at the sound of the drums during the festival of Pooram, the beginning of a Kathakali performance with the lamp glowing silently all night witness to the awe-inspiring sight of angry Bhima tearing open Dusshaasana’s innards…
Ironically, English – the language I write in, dream in, even think in – evokes hardly any sentiment within. Yet, it is the language I am most expressive in… and even though, I have managed to achieve a good level of proficiency in conveying my love, devotion and happiness through this language…. the actual feeling is colored in the gorgeous orange and verdant green of Malayalam and Hindi.

you may think you are expressing all that love and devotion in the english language; there is a lot of use of body Language too! 😀

You write so well! 🙂
I’d associate green with Malayalam and orange with Hindi, perhaps it’s the association with green-green Kerala and orange(Saffron or whatever that colour is) Hindu nationalism .

Oh, orange/saffron is just my favorite color… and green is the dominant theme in Kerala, undoubtedly!
