The Indian state of Kerala has banned the production and sale of Coca Cola and Pepsi following a report that the drinks contain harmful pesticides.
I wonder if this is actually going to cause Keralites to stop buying/drinking Pepsi or Coke. It could even start a whole new industry of people getting these drinks in from neighbouring states. Nevertheless, since we are talking about aerated drinks that supposedly have enough strength to clean drains, dissolve blood stains and clean corrosion among many other *benefits*, it is good sense to stop drinking them.

Yes, but personal choice is what democracy is all about. :/
What about tea stalls and roadside food stands? I wonder what nasties are in the food/drinks being sold…
Just a thought!

Well, people have the choice of going elsewhere and drinking it – there is no ban on people drinking it!

Maybe Sprite? Or Thums Up?
Just suggestions!

Didn’t you know that Thums Up is also owned by Coca Cola now? I’m presuming that automatically includes it in the ban.

I don’t like it .
What about the occasional cleanser for the stomach that I used to have. It is not good to ban medicines which can act also as toilet cleaners and amongst other things lead to a satisifed sugar high for a non drinking guy.
Well I will not be missing it. Will you ?

Lakshmi says:
I don’t have aerated drinks at all and so I won’t miss them! About stomach cleanser, there are healthier alternatives to Coke/Pepsi and I am sure you are aware of them… unless you miss the multi-purpose toilet-cleaner cum stain remover cum tummy cleanser that Coke claims to be…:-)

If Ash can drink coke and Tendulkar can drink and all those role models can drink, then I am sure I am allowed my coke.;-)
What healthy alternatives are there ?
August 10, 2006 — 1:14 pm
Lakshmi says:
If you are asking about healthy alternatives to clean your stomach, I can give you a few suggestions, Triphala being one of them. It is a herb available in tablet form and you can take it after dinner once a fortnight or so. It is quite effective in cleaning the digestive system, in my experience. Traditionnal Medicinals has a brand of herbal tea called Smooth Move that is a fantastic laxative. Of course, it’d be good to consult an Ayurvedic physician for more details.

Hey, that is a new userpic! Yeah, before I got here, someone joked that it’s Coke and not water that flows out of the taps here…:-)
