Ouch! is what happens when a martial art enthusiast who also has a black belt in Karate (read Pinch) tries to interest a complete non-enthusiast with nil interest in Jackie Chan (read me) in Oriental martial arts. End result: my pinky (little finger if you’re as unfamiliar with the term as I was!) came up against Pinchoo’s elbow and the poor thing got battered. Well, not battered as battered normally goes but it’s sticking out like a sore thumb except that it isn’t a thumb. Can’t really type a lot and so I’ll just give a very concise version of the Diwali weekend.
Flame-coloured silk saree~jewellery~the works~carrot-beans sabzi in coconut gravy with peanut powder~mixed vegetable curry~peas pulao~dhoklas with dhaniya chutney~Mohan Bhog~Semolina kheer with saffron and almonds~fig barfi~Rava-besan laddoo~cutting, chopping, cleaning, setting~Phew!
P.S. That isn’t me in the pink saree!

The fig barfi was bought from a store, Arun…But it still was yum!

arunshanbhag says:
my bro in NJ took me to this place in Edison called Mughal Express, which had the best Anjeer barfi. All anjeer and nuts, and non-existent mava/cream. Reminded me of that. Should remind my bro to send a package over 😉

ahem. actually i find nothing wrong with this pink, up there. there are peeps that can carry this color so well. [esp with that gold-work blouse …]
on dusky-complexioned people it may not work all that well though.

Nahin, yaar… I chopped most of the stuff, in fact all the veggies. Cooking was mostly done by the hostess who’s the one in pink!

Lakshmi says:
The ‘eh’ thing is a Canadian acquisition, eh?
🙂
November 15, 2004 — 6:07 pm
trycatchdenz says:
Why do Canadians say “eh?”, eh?
Well it goes thus:
There’s a well-worn myth that Canadians say “eh?” at the end of everything. It’s entirely believable that Canada got its name when some guys picked scrabble tiles at random — “C, eh? N, eh? D, eh?” I And they say we talk funny.
This is courtesy: Pete Bevin.
And yeah most folks do say an “eh” – a very Canadian thing. About how Canada got to be named thus, tell me if you still want to know :).
Jokes apart: Read this if you really want to know.
Cheerz,
Denz

Somehow everyone seems to have got the impression that I am dusky(Sonal’s take) and slim(yours)… Ooooh! And that pink is not a colour I can be identified with…:-))
