Frankly, I have nothing to blog about. Have been reading Aunt Julia and the scriptwriter by Mario Vargas Llosa and Vivekananda – The Yogas and other works concurrently. I know it is an unusual mix but they haven’t clashed yet. I am yet to know of any person more dynamic or brilliant than Swami Vivekananda. His inexhaustible energy, intelligence, courage and dynamism is unparalleled. Western philosophy, Vedic scriptures, logic, theology, history – there was no subject that he was unaware of. What a genius!
The first book is quite charming. Set in Lima, it tells the story of a script-writer whose stories become larger than life and intertwined with his racy tales is the rather dramatic romance of his colleague… Oh, it’s fun and the author brings the city of Lima to life with his vivid description and picturesque imagination. I also got Flowers for Algernon (tomlinsonian‘s recommendation) and The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.
Watched a couple of films, ate a lot of cookies… Been loafing big time. No, I don’t like it much myself but what the heck… Too much of energy; maybe I am itching for something big. Well, it’s high time the next big thing came along. Tried my hand at painting again; so many years later. Chuck it, I am quite a dud! None of my paintings are gonna adorn these walls…:-(
The weather has been absolutely lovely. Loads of sunshine for many hours of the day!
Prayer (to the sun above the clouds)
Sun that givest all things birth
Shine on everything on earth!
If that’s too much to demand
Shine at least on this our land
If even that’s too much for thee
Shine at any rate on me
— Piet Hein
There is a high likelihood that I’ve posted this poem in the past. In that case, my sincere apologies… By the way, doesn’t it merit a repeat reading?
Adios, amigos…

concur with s vivekananda. What fluid writing as well. His speech in Chicago was a turning point for me.
Nice poem. Its bitter cold here, but the sun is shining today – merit a run!
and strongly recommend, Arthur Golden’s Memoirs of a Geisha. Breathtakingly beautiful! probably one of my all time favorites!
Enjoy the sun, sun-worshipper!
