So many crazy quizzes and lists floating around in blogdom. Here’s my humble contribution to all the inane stuff..:-)
Wish list:
1. To become an excellent yoga teacher.
2. To become a qualified Ayurveda practitioner.
3. To live in Istanbul.
4. To play the violin at the Thyagaraja Aradhana.
5. To speak Tamil, Gujarati, Malayalam, French, Arabic and Spanish fluently.
6. To get a doctorate in Sanskrit and hopefully teach it someday.
7. To get the perfect eye makeup (Kajal, eye-liner, eye-shadow-is that all?)
8. To do an AOL course at the ashram at Hrishikesh.
9. To trek up to the source of the Ganga.
Something quantifiable, tangible… not necessarily believable.
Please add in your entries…
Added later: I have a very hoarse voice, rather like my Dad’s. It’s more manly than Pinch’s!!! I have never been able to really sing a lot simply because my voice is unable to match most pitches. I wish so much that one day my throat will clear up and my true voice will emerge…:-)

Hike (not necessarily to the peak) the major mountains in the world.
Write a book(s) on literature, photography and foods (not necessarily in that order).
Visit atleast 100 countries and spend a month in each to get to know the culture well.
Have a few kids.
…

Lakshmi says:
Visit atleast 100 countries and spend a month in each to get to know the culture well.
I think you’ll need to spend atleast 3 months to go beyond the sights and visits and really soak in the place… language, traditions, daily activities, food, shopping… 3 months minimum.
December 17, 2004 — 2:31 pm
arunshanbhag says:
Ok, 3 months!
Can I add: Retire in a couple of years!!! so I can do the travelling, eating and photography!

surendra says:
Travel all of India before I get old
Travel Europe, Africa and American continents (both North and South) before I settle back in India
Rafting in all the class 5 rapids present in the world
Sponsor as many kid’s as I can all over the world, for them to study and put value into their life
Come to India and settle there with Hyderabad as my base and live peacefully (3 months every year away from all the pressures of work and just relax doing whatever I like)
Work towards getting my MBA (from one of the top 5 schools in US) and if possible a Doctorate in Robotics (if both MBA and Robotics can mesh ;-))
All of the above if I could then I would be happy, but the most precious thing I would like to do is to make sure everyone around me is happy.
As they say in the Mastercard Ad Captions
“Achieving all the items in your To Do List” – XXXXXXXXXX$
“Making people around you happy at all times” – PRICELESS
December 17, 2004 — 2:23 pm
Lakshmi says:
Well, your list doesn’t look all that un-realisable!
December 17, 2004 — 2:32 pm
surendra says:
Definitely not. I set only realizable goals 🙂 so that I could be happy that I have done what I want. But at the end of the day if I can see the people around me happy, it does not matter even if I failed the whole day.

Er…unrelated, but I used to live in Rishikesh before I came to Mumbai for my studies. My parents, especially my father, a fan/follower(?) of AOL. A few years back, Sri Sri was in the ashram in Rishikesh for Holi, and everyone there played Holi with sandalwood powder instead of the chemicals, etc.

1. Get my butt in shape
2. Read a few books
3. Crack CAT next time
4. Visit the north-east
5. Learn how to play an instrument
6. Stop being vain and shallow. Which, interestingly, contradicts #1
December 18, 2004 — 4:43 am
ruchikapoor says:
Wanting a nice butt doesn’t make you vain and shallow, IMHO. You could care a left-handed rat’s middle finger about your looks, and still be vain as hell (case in point: yours truly).

fugney says:
a left-handed rat’s middle finger
Very creative, I say. Good one 🙂
But seriously, I think it would be good for me to get over this obsession with looks with time.
