We don’t like films when we don’t agree with them. We like to watch those movies that resonate with some tone within us. We want films that provide answers. I say, what film has provided the right answers anyway? Give me a film that asks the right questions! The whys, hows, – these will ultimately lead us to think more, reason out and find our own answers.

I think it’s more about movies which make us think. Movies are someone’s artistic expression or their point of view. One doesn’t have to agree but they work if they jog your brain cells.

(Go sleep son, or gabbar will come…he will probably spare you bit pick me up !)
I actually had a girl classmate of mine do that dialogue in college, just the way I said it above in a college skit and it came out amazing.Got the audience laugh their bellies out.

That is what has always been the bone of contention for me. Who decides what is right? And more so, movies are like a piece of art – like a paintin or something. Just some expression of a personal point of view. Watch How to Make an American Quilt..:)

Haven’t seen 1 and 3. 2, I agree, is an excellent film. Actually, I have seen SO MANY Malayalam films that would count as perfect. Btw, I thought Lagaan was perfection epitomised.

Appealing universally = appealing to non-Indians, I mean. A couple of German friends of my hubby loved the film. Anyways, I have not seen the subtitled version and so can’t comment.

Agree on the Malayalam movies part. There are so many of them, in different genres, each perfect in its own way, from Oru Vadakenveera gatha as a classic, Nadodikattu as a comedy, or the CBI series as investigative dramas.
