That, to me was one of your best posts! Really loved reading through it. In fact your description of the trip to Kerala every vacation, brought back so many memories, coz that formed such a big part of my childhood too.
Btw, you haven’t told me about the tour group that you and your sister used to go with for those treks.
And the description of that scene from Monsoon Wedding…you said it all!
No 1. made me nostalgic as hell.
No 2. made me think of a similar experience I had.
It was so amazing. 🙂
and the rest, I could imagine , because I’ve either had similar experiences or you did a damn good job describing them.
Totally enjoyed your post!
P.S: you married your best friend?
I’m curious if it’s a romantic story 🙂
Nice post, one for the ‘memories list’ – its length prompted me to postpone reading it by a day 😉
I was reminded of how much great music i slept through because i was a kid, when my parents used to attend the ‘Dhrupad Mela’ in Varanasi …. and for all you know, we might’ve watched ‘Monsoon Wedding’ about the same time, i watched it in Rex, i think in Dec. 2001 (?).
Would be interesting to see what such a list for me would comprise of ….. but i reckon it’d be too long for one post ! Ah well, i’ll just keep adding to them and write a book someday 😉

Yes, Pavitra. I met him in college, he turned into my best friend and I married him. Pretty romantic if you treat it that way…

Neither of us felt that there was anything romantic that time.. I mean, it seemed like the most natural course of events…Know what I mean?

Know what, I think it might have been Rex that I watched it in… Dec 2001, likely..:-)

Interesting to think that we might have seen it at the same time – then again, it’s still quite improbable.
Anyway, nice movie, and i have the DVD now 🙂
