The book is rather racy, highly descriptive, somewhat random(not as bad as Joyce, though!) and filled with colourful descriptions. Might complete it today…
Feel like going back to Bombay but I shall not dwell on it lest this impulse fester into another long-drawn, agonising, depressing litany of the familiar kind. Looks like I’m being influenced by Kunzru. Balls…:-))
Peace, resilience, patience…please!

The brief outline mentioned before the book begins is rather tantalising. About a boy born out of a mentally deranged Indian women and a frustrated British major during a flood, the story moves from Agra to Fatehpur to Amritsar to Bombay to England to Africa… Pran, the protagonist is a handsome guy and how he wanders from place to place playing different roles in life.. sometimes a courtesan(!!!), a missionary, a pimp…
Rather colourful book and vividly descriptive.. sometimes, it reads like some kinda trip..
Just finished it.
