Yeah, I get ‘sweetheart’ a lot. ‘Honey’ too. From women mostly. All the time, in fact. Actually it is a Southern thing. It is cute when this formidable-looking female security guard asks for my ticket/pass and responds, “Thank you, sweetheart” or “Ok, hon”. Subway outlets, cafeterias, phone orders.. it is everywhere. Took me some time to figure out that THAT was what they said but now I like it…:-)
Ok, it is kinda funny that after 2-3 weeks of absence, I actually blog about ‘sweetheart’ on a lovely Sunday evening. Have been really busy what with Guruji visiting Atlanta in May and all the other associated activities. It’s a lot of fun and takes me back to college times when we did all that and more for our inter-collegiate festival…. I miss reading all your blogs, guys… But no fear, I shall be back!

Here, every workspot has a different much-used term. When I first joined Sify, I was amused at the word,”Girlie.” I don’t like it, and I never got used to, “Hey Girlie….”!
In my present workspot, I hear a bit of “Sweetheart”, but it isn’t as common as Girlie was.tch tch
