Some of the better pictures I took on this India trip…
That may sound highly arcane but it is a very simple shot of this woman I saw on this railway station on outskirts of Bombay.
Somnath is a fabulous temple. It stands proudly, the Arabian ocean washing its feet gently, bearing testimony to the fact that inspite of the multiple times it was invaded, it still remains. Devotees visit the temple from near and far, to pay homage to the first ever Jyotirlinga known. We attended the aarti and it was amazing how enlivening it was. The temple resounded with the sounds of the various instruments and chanting by the devotees. By the end of the aarti, the music had reached a crescendo and my hair stood on end. What a magnificent place…(No cellphones or cameras allowed inside, obviously!)
From the Shiva temple to Mahashivraatri in Delhi, it was not a long trip. You can see Gurudev from afar as He sits on this really high stage. Now you know why I need a better camera!
Can you believe, this was my first visit to Delhi? Shame on me…:-)
Quite liked the city. The above is one of the pillars before the Rashtrapati Bhavan, I believe. I recall, on my trip to Washington DC, I was amazed at how wonderful the official Government buildings look. Delhi is far better, even if I say so!
More pictures to come…

Not decided on a camera yet. Guess it’ll take time to actually fix on what model to buy.
Read about your marathon achievement. Way to go…:-)

I have been considering this camera for a India travel camera; 12X optical zoom and a Leica Lens. They have a 5 MP version for a lower price (but check the optical zoom). and these are much smaller than the D-SLRs.

That looks fabulous and was recommending it as well… Not very expensive either. Frankly speaking, I am scared that I won’t even know how to handle such a sophisticated piece of equipment…:-(
