I had my second violin class yesterday. God, half an hour and my right foot felt like L-E-A-D. My teacher advised me to rise and walk around just to get the blood moving. I declined; I wasn’t even confident of rising without falling! Anyways, the numbness receded and I was able to play for a while thereafter.
Pleasantly enough, I found myself feeling far more confident yesterday. My fingers seemed to instinctively find the right spot on the stem and reach out with minimum effort too. But the bow was rather cranky yesterday… Kept creaking on and on… Well, my teacher said that as one starts moving the bow from the base, the pressure has to be minimum… as the bow is heavy to wield at that point. As one reaches the end, the pressure may be increased.
Phew! I loved it, have to admit it. In fact, after we got home, I practised for about 10-12 mins more. Pinchoo khush ho gaya… seeing his wife’s dedication…:-))
‘Bariwali’ this evening… at the Indian Film Festival and ‘Maqbool’ tomorrow.

Maestro… not someone who begins to play at the ripe old age of 25, Arun… Nevertheless, hope floats…:-)

Violin lessons
I am very happy that you enjoy and are serious about the violin class. You will have the feeling of the Swaras and you will know when you go wrong since you had learned Karnatic Music when you were in school. Keep it up and do not leave it ever.
Love,
Your Achhan
