Dard-E-Disco opens with Arabic beats and then Sukhwinder’s metallic voice takes over… who’d expect disco to convey any kind of Dard? I am still unsure if the song actually does that… what it does evoke is a very dance-heavy feel replete with plainitive echoes, images of skimpily clad women roving all around the King Khan, heavy duty beats. You cannot help laugh out loud at how ‘San Francisco’ is weaved into the lyrics – who’d have thought??!!
Personally, I like the female chorus that goes ‘… he makes me crazy something something…’. It kinda begins like ‘De de pyar de pyar de..’ and then quickly winds down into its own trancey feel. Sukhwinder’s voice is not the best fit for SRK or so I think. But even the shining pecs look a bit gross on him. Guess I need to get used to the new avatar of the King.

I have a feeling that “shining pecs” look was just for this movie – even his face looked “pinched” for sometime a while ago, and doesn’t anymore. I suspect the two go hand-in-hand.

I read someplace that he worked out real hard to get the look in the film.

Indeed, and is perhaps not working quite as hard to maintain them – that’s what I meant.

Actually, I thought they looked rather nice on him. I’d like pecs like that 😛
But I don’t think those pecs are meant to last. Not on a man that old. Fun movie though:)

Dard-E might just be the most aptly ‘misplaced’ song in a bollywood movie.
