When I saw the pictures posted by arunshanbhag, I realised how off the mark I was when it came to imagining how my LJ-pals looked like. So here goes… These are the pictures I’d conjured up in my mind.
deelight: I knew that she had had her nose pierced but that apart, something gave me the impression that Dee has a very traditional face. Inspite of the fact that her online persona is so girlish and youthful, the picture she conjured up in my mind was that of a mature woman, not a young girl.
arunshanbhag: For some strange reason, I imagined Arun to be a tall, heavyset, bespectacled, fair guy in a tweed suit/singlet, shorts, running shoes… For the life of me, I dunno why! Someone with a twinkle in his brown eyes and a ready smile… I know this is weird but I have no explanations, serious!
radhika74: Radhika came across as a spunky person from her blogs. I imagined her to look like one of those Hindi heroines of yesteryears. Long, curly hair, a lot of energy and enthusiasm and an amused smile on the face most of the time!
shri: Hmm, I can’t really put my finger on Shri. I feel as if she’s like Ariel (A Midsummer night’s dream). A free-spirited person with an element of dreaminess… Can’t get a mental picture of how you look, Shri!
As for the others, I think some of you had already given out your pictures at some point or the other. The rest of you are my good real-life pals. Therefore, no imagination required!
shri says:
The funny thing is, , , , they all turned out quite close to the way I had imagined them to be. 🙂
As for you, Locks, somehow or the other, I always imagine you to be this graceful woman who is smart, funny, and little bit crazy. 😀

Girl is the word, Shri. Even though I am 25, I can hardly call myself a woman!
Smart? Nearly! Funny… I don’t think so, though others do! A li’l bit crazy… aren’t we all?

You’re right about (except perhaps for the curly hair). But then, she’s the only one in this quartet whom I’ve met.

Arun would have really looked weird in a tweed jacket with shorts :P. I’d say he was close to expectation. Somehow, I don’t see D’s nose pierced.

I swear! I didn’t see Dee’s nose pierced either but I remember her telling me that she had had it done at the jeweller’s.

Just out of curiosity and OT : where else can you get it done ?

Lakshmi says:
OT?
You can get it done at a doctor or a beautician’s.

… also, right outside Harvard Square there are a bunch of folks hanging out and ‘piercing’ each other. They usually use a bit of spirit (for consuming) and a safety pin. I was told, one should leave the safety-pin in for a few days, so the pierced hole heals nicely around the pin and will never close-up again.
… and its free!

Locks I do have a traditional Indian face…maybe when you meet me ‘face to face’ you’d realise! 😉 Did I come across as a mature woman? I thought I’d have to try real hard to get close to that!

Its Fall, so I have pulled out my harris-tweed, and during this visit to Mumbai, I got some reading glasses (late evening use only); looks like I may have to pick up those elevator shoes I spied in a magazine.
I don’t know if I can do both heavy-set and running.
Heavy-set: because i talk about food a lot?
interesting to see how our writing creates a visual of the writer as well.
🙂
Thanks for doing this.
