I am a morning person – through and through. I cannot sleep beyond 8 am and that’s after a late night. There is something about that time of the day that is so pure, so sweet, so fresh and saatvik. These summer days, I leave for work around 7-7:15 am and the light is golden and resplendent. I keep the sunglasses off as long as I can – the sunshine is so soothing to the eyes, so nourishing. I keep the air-conditioning off as long as I can handle it – better to feel the warmth of the sun even if it be a little too warm than to feel the conditioned air streaming through the vents. Breakfasts are light – a cup of warm milk with Bournvita/Horlicks/Nutramul stirred in with a dash of tea masala. Music is different too – last year, Pinch burned all these CDs with devotional chants like Vishnu Sahasranamam, Ganapati Stotras, Hanuman Chalisa, Sacred Chants, etc. They feel so perfect to my ears at this time of the day. Almost feels as if the chants are infusing my consciousness (and the car!) with such sattva… such purity.

Vishnu Sahasranamam, Ganapati Stotras, Hanuman Chalisa, Sacred Chants – this is what I mostly like to hear too especially in the morning and also Gayatri Mantra. It does relax the brain and also I do not feel the traffic at all even when I drive in bumper to bumper traffic.
Also I feel getting into work early makes my more productive. I tend to get a lot more done before others come in and we end up in discussions and meetings.

sounds like a serenely beautiful morning ride – has a meditative quality to it.
thanks to you, Shiv-Shiv Anurag is part of my morning listens on my iPOD (I take public transportation!); also includes Rama stotras and the Hanuman Chalisa; depending on my mood, includes some marathi abhangs, or MS Subbulakshmi’s Venkatesha Stotra.
and good to see your post!
