In one of the scenes in ‘Bariwali’, Kiran Kher cooks fish in a kadhaai and the whole thing is sizzling in oil and …. Of all the scenes in the film, that has stayed with me….:-) Blackened fish roasting in spices … and when I referred to it as ‘Machchar jhol’, Pinch laughed out… It’s ‘Maacher jhol’, as any Bong could correct me… Wow! I’d love to eat that….
Yesterday, before ‘Troy’, we found this shop, that is run by the Swaminarayan sect, near the theatre. They had an astounding array of farsans, sweets, pickles… Stared at all the sweets helplessly before deciding on half a pound of doodhi halwa and half of gaajar halwa…

This time, i’m not so hungry, so it’s ok – and since i’m a vegetarian, ‘machher jhol’ isn’t for me anyway 🙂

I can give up chicken/meat… In fact, I barely eat meat. But fish… Wallah! Pink shrimps, crispy prawns, masaaledaar pomfrets, spicy crabs, succulent baby shark, juicy salmon… all that sushi… Kya kare, control hi nahin hota..:-)
