My Dil goes Hmmmm is such a cute song. As are the other songs from Salaam Namaste. And I haven’t seen the film yet. Or Bunty Aur Babli. Or Bluffmaster. Or Sarkar. Methinks I have missed out on an entire generation of Hindi films and music. Boo.
This is the year I am going to change all that. No more protests from Pinch on late nights, crappy songs, etc. will be entertained. Please give me reviews, friends from India and I’ll make sure that the films are watched ASAP.

I’m always aghast when fans of Hindi movies say they haven’t seen all the latest. I’m the opposite – I’ve seen all the biggest movies from the last few years, but am still missing most of the oldie-but-goodies from my “watched” list.
All the films you’ve mentioned above are definitely worth watching at least once (especially Bluffmaster, IMHO)… preferably in theater, but it’s a little late for that. But don’t forget Rang de Basanti if you haven’t seen it!

Oh, I have watched RDB and blogged about it too. Didn’t I put some comments about the movie on your post? Or maybe it must have been on Ruchi’s journal.

I was pretty sure you had, but there’ve been so many discussions now I’ve gotten everything mixed up. 🙂

I liked _Sarkar_, _Bunty aur Babli_, _Iqbal_, _PArineeta_, _Apharan_. Didn’t care much for Salam Namaste and haven’t seen Bluff Master. I’ll prolly see some more movies in the next few weeks and will tell you if I really like something.

Prolly Bluffmaster and Sarkar are the ones to go for I would say. The idea of Bunty and Babli makes me cringe for some reason.
*bulb lights up*
How about you post on the latest in the arbit English movies which we can hopefully get DVDs about?
Miss the ability to walk into a theatre and have 20 different english movies to choose from.

I have not watched any English film either in ages. Wanted to watch Syriana but dunno if that’s playing in any of the theatres here…

Bluffmaster yes…I lurvvvvve all the songs. Somehow the remix of Taqdir se is just haunting.
B&B is also awesome. I am still waiting for Kajra re to bore me. Havent heard Sarkar so cant say.
But I think Salaam Namaste was awful – the movie as well as the song

Ooh, I love Kajra Re. As also, the rest of the songs. Make me want to break into dance no matter where I am!

I’d add Sehar and Yahaan, two relatively low profile movies, both worth watching.

The only Hindi songs worth listening are the old ones. As for Hindi movies, watch their trailers instead of the whole movie, or better still watch their original English versions.

I liked Bluffmaster and Parineeta a lot….also liked Lucky-No Time For Love….not the best movie ever…silly story but great locations and actually awesome acting by Mithun….he was the surprise package…..I think I had negative expectations from the movie and that made me like it!!
Didn’t like Salaam Namaste that much….could have been SO much better!!!

I have also been planning to watch one of the off-the-beaten-path arty movies, but haven’t got a chance to do it yet.

I saw Hazaron khwaishe aisi . Should be able to find a cassette at Taj Mahal Imports – the one at North Druid hills. Iqbal too shouldn’t be that difficult. I will let you know if I get that.
