Last morning was spent tending to my homesickness… Not such a bad case but I couldn’t stop thinking about the Vishus in the past, the general spirit at home, meeting Cheecha’s family/Veliyamma’s in the evening…. all that bonhomie. What do I do, what do I do???
Figured that I should clean the house, have an early bath and wear new clothes. Well, did all three!!! Picked out this new salwar suit which I hadn’t worn as yet, cleaned the entire house(the 2 rooms, that is!), cleaned the kitchen and had an early shower. Dressed up with earrings, kaajal… the works!!!
Then thought of calling Sandeep and Kau for dinner…. Voila! Sambar, cabbage-capsicum thoran and paal paayasam for dinner…. Plus loads of compliments!!!
Been a while so pardon the ecstatic reaction…
Dinner was decent. For a first timer, the paayasam was good too. Painful part is that I used up all the milk available and now there’s no milk to even have a cuppa! Grrr….
I hope today is a good day… Signs aren’t too encouraging!

Wow, you really are some cook! How do you dish out all those traditional curries and payasam, with apparent ease. I’m totally impressed!

Nahin, yaar… Sambar was the tough thing and Pinch cooked it. Thoran is really simple. I was fearful about the paayasam but that turned out to be very simple too. All I needed to do was keep stirring it on a low flame.. only patience, no skills!
