Fahrenheit 9/11… And ‘Dev’!

‘Fahrenheit 9/11’ and ‘Dev’ were my Saturday movies. Frankly, too films a day, however amazing the films may be, are tough to digest.

According to CNN reports, ‘F-9/11’ has grossed 21.8 million dollars in plain 3 days! That’s almost as much as Michael Moore’s earlier film ‘Bowling in Columbine’ gathered over 9 months. I haven’t been able to make up my mind as to how I feel about the film. It deserves to be watched once definitely, twice maybe. A tad dramatic, I thought. Pinch thought otherwise. He liked the film a whole lot more than I did. For a documentary, as the conventional ‘documentary’ definition goes, this was a long one. 2 hours, 15 minutes, I think. Maybe I should watch it once more…:-)
One thing needs to be mentioned about Moore, he has done his homework well. He has provided the viewer with detailed facts and figures relating to the Bush family-Saudi royal family linkage. Poor George W has turned out as a sad caricature in this film. I wonder if any comments are forthcoming from the White House…. Can’t say any more, worth a watch, definitely.

One thing that did strike me was: it is to America’s credit that Moore can make such a bold and outspoken film and not get censured for it.

‘Dev’… Govind Nihalani, Amitabh Bachchan, Om Puri, Amrish Puri. Quite a wash-out. Fardeen Khan may be the best Provogue model to date; can’t say that about his acting. For all you know, he might go the Saif way; turn better with age!
