In a weak moment, I think of the countless problems India faces (well, it cannot be countless, there has to be a count) and it tears me apart.

Diversity and wealth, in my opinion, are two attributes that have led to India’s woes. Both attributes, you would think, could only contribute to a nation’s greatness, and possibly this happened in case of India as well. Diversity of population meant a plethora of literature, art, tradition, crafts, wisdom and more to choose from, derive from, learn from. Wealth meant not simply material riches but spiritual wisdom, scriptural knowledge and ancient sciences that could benefit the whole world.

And today, it is this wealth of diversity and riches that have ruined the minds of India’s governance. Instead of capitalizing on these attributes to the advantage of the country and her citizens, these small-minded officials are on the path to destroying the country’s present and future.

Now you know why I despair so much?

Then I take some deep breaths, meditate a while. And then it’s back to action.
