I love dancing. Plain adore it. I can dance for hours with no help from water, beer or any life-giving fluids. One time, I’d been to this discotheque in B’bay with a couple of friends. I was working that day; it happened to be Traditional Day at work and I’d worn this jute-silk saree with a black polo-necked Tee. I didn’t feel upto changing and elicited hazaar stares from the rest of the smoking-drinking-dancing PYTs and their hunky halves around. One of the few times in my life when I really didn’t mind all those mixed signals…I danced with total josh. Oh, it’s such a high, whirling round with the lights making psychedelic patterns all around and the smell of cigarette smoke in my lungs, clinging to my hair. Of course, the music has to be upto a certain standard, whatever I mean by that. I wish I could but I really can’t spin around to any music. It has to be something I genuinely enjoy or else I might as well stand on the side with my hands folded.
I have been listening to a non-stop music channel playing Sukhwinder Singh’s tracks and man! is he blessed! That voice is pure gold, metallic and lustrous. It can rend an auditorium apart, that scale and bass. Some of the sungs I’ve been listening to that make me wish I was back in a dark discotheque in B’bay, dancing the night away…
Mahi ve – Kaante
Gash Khaake – Khoobsurat
Rabba Rabba – Aks
Kahwa Kahwa – Monsoon Wedding

Must be a coiinceidence, but it’s kind of funny that the last three songs listed are all ones with a repeated word.

I love to dance too…In college we used to visit discs just to dance. We didn’t have too much money to spend on drinks and neither were we inclined to drinking. SO it was just this ‘out of hell’ kind of insane dancing …some stamina we had then! This brought back memories!

I mean the song goes “aaj mera jee karda…” like the lyrics are very happy, but the other sounds used indicate negative emotions… so it’s kinda bittersweet…. that makes the song lovely…
“sigh”… played too much virtual cop…. see those circles everywhere.
