People buy autos that they don’t need or afford, get into debt which then becomes a big pain in the butt.
Read somewhere… Average american TV viewer watches 80 ads every day. I am one of those who help to bring this average down. Don’t watch much TV and what I watch is HBO. So, no ads. 🙂

I think what it says above all is that the average American consumer is rather susceptible to the advertising world’s seductive powers.
And yes, it’s spreading – U.K for one, has plenty of people with the same travails.
