Daddy turned 65 today. He is at his ancestral home in Tharakkal right now. I called him last night to wish him (one of the few times I have ever done that in my life!) and he told me that he and my aunt (his sister) woke up at 2:30 am in the morning yesterday. Together they cooked a veritable feast for about 20-25 people who were invited for lunch. Olan, kaalan, elisheri, paayasam and all other traditional Keralite dishes! It is so cute – parents celebrate the birthdays of their children when they are young. With age, the birthday celebration also slows down and people often feel bashful about making a fuss on their birthdays… in this case, my Dad has started celebrating his own birthday and that too with such enthusiasm… Imagine waking up at an unearthly hour to cook ALL this food – for your own b’day! I find it so cute – Happy Birthday, Achcha!!!

I know – since the past five years, Daddy’s birthday celebrations have been wonderful – apart from the fact that I have not been around any of them…:-(
Awesomely cute, anyways!

Unni uncle is 65!!!
Sridhar used to be insanely jealous long time back when I used to tell him stories about ‘Unni Uncle’…:))
That’s just so lovely..celebrating in Tharakkal…I remember he is a strong proponent of always maintaining roots…
A very very happy birthday to the man who is the Einstein I have met!!!

😀 He is the only living Einstein I know – except that Einstein was supposed to be a believer unlike Daddy who has an atheist as long back as I can remember…:-)
I think Daddy’s the happiest in Tharakkal – that slight smile playing on his lips, the archetypal whistle of some song, that typical walk of his with his hand keeping the taalam to some song running through his head – he is at his best in Tharakkal!
