Is there such a thing as the NY attitude? Is it that which manifested in the suddenly brusque ‘Are you listening?’ of a policeman in the middle of directing us to a site to watch the fireworks? Or was it why the parking attendant appeared so grouchy when we asked him the rate of parking on weekdays? Or the picky manner of the rental car attendant?
A far cry from the Southern manner…
Nevertheless, I loved the city. It was heart-achingly reminiscent of Bombay. The bustle, the pace, the skyline… Bombay, on a magnified scale.

NY – the ity which never sleeps. You are absolutely right. Reminds me of bombay. how was your trip? You should have come up to Boston!

Was a scrunched trip all through, Arun… NY is too HUGE to be crammed even into 3 days, as we realised!

YES is the answer to all your (rhetorical) questions. It is a far cry from the mild midwestern manner as well.
Don’t know if you tried driving there, but, that reminds me of Mumbai the most.

Didn’t drive… walked mostly.

My brother was in New York recently and he loved it. He says the kind of talent that exists there is mindblowing. He says that an average singer at the subway would be better than some of our A rate singers back home…esp when it comes to Jazz and stuff. SO did you catch the Broadway? I believe NY has a very “Bombay” fee; to it though much cleaner I’m sure 🙂
Would love to visit that place….esp for the talent that exists there.

Lakshmi says:
Ohh.. didn’t spot too much of subway talent..:-( One really needs more time to drink in more of the city!
Broadway is too expensive, Dee… apne bas ki baat nahin. Was checking out the tickets to ‘Chicago’ and they were easily 80$ a piece…sigh sigh..

Ya my brother went mad there and has run quite an amount on his credit card coz he sawTHE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and LION KING on Broadway. So that itself was so damn expensive besides the other jaunts that he went crazy over…Freak, NY is really expensive.

I guess that sums up Toronto too, to a large extent. Dunno why it so much reminds me of Bombay. Montreal is much different – more European and like.
BTW – The annual Jazz festival is blocks away from where I stay in downtown Montreal. Should check it out one of these days.
Cheerz,
Denz
