Too many details to write about; I haven’t yet posted the pics. One thing I learnt, my camera doesn’t zoom too well. Why DIDN’T I check it out while buying it?
Anyways, Friday evening saw Denver airport and by night, we were at Estes Park. Too snowy, rainy, windy… No way of setting up tents. Rented a warm log cabin and slept like logs!
Saturday morn… On to the Bear Lake Trail. The weather changed dramatically along the way… Sunny, rainy… blizzardy!!! My first snow-trek experience in sneakers!!! Managed to make it to 5 of the lakes, the last of which was completely frozen. God, my hands were completely numb and so was the are around my lips. One of a kind experience!!! Come night, another cabin.. tents ka popat!
Sunday morn… Drove, drove and more of it. Reached Boulder, a charming town. It’s situated between mountains and irrespective of wherever you are, you can see the ranges… Very pretty town. Then came this idea of visiting Mt. Ewan. One of the fourteeners in the USA. Drove up and up… till the snow got so wild that visibility was nearly nil… Ravines on one side of the road. A couple of wheel skids… and we turned back..:-(
Got one scary pic, though…
Back to a warm cabin in Denver… hot showers, soft towels… aaraam!
Went to Denver Downtown in the evening… Nice place, so desolate…:-(
Kinda depressing…
Monday morn.. Thanks to Memorial Day, most touristy places were shut. Managed to make it to an art festival… THAT was good! No Art Museums or Civic Centers for us…:-(
Monday night… back to home..
Phew!

ha. ha. sounds so exciting. and at this time of year you must have had hard and packed, slippery snow, right ? [ *shudders at the thought of rain / snow / wind all at the same time*. ]
