Quite a giveaway, isn’t it? Watched the film on Saturday and quite liked it. The camera work was good, very sepia-like and I love that shade of brown. The Southern accent again made comprehension difficult but I managed. The OST must be good, all those bluesy tracks floating in the background… Kinda lost track over the last couple of reels while talking with Kaumudi.
Happy Jack!!!
Dunno if any of you guys in the USA have caught this ad of Hummer with the song ‘Happy Jack’ in the background. Pinch had a CD of The Who which featured this song also. Plain loved it…. ‘He couldn’t prevent Jack from being happy…’
What a state of being! Wallah!

I loved this movie. I think it is one of the best Coen Brothers movies. The soundtrack is wonderful. I remember that I couldn’t take the CD out of athe CD player for at least a month after I bought it.
The Southern accent again made comprehension difficult but I managed.
For someone living in Georgia, I’d not think that this would be a problem. 😉

coen brothers …
Dude. you should also see *mallrats* by coen brothers :)) thats decidedly worth a watch. not the same genre as “oh bro ..” though.
“Oh Brother, … ” is really a movie that brings a smile to your face. It is so unceasingly funny. btw, the imdb entry says : it is loosely based on Homer’s Odyssey . really ? 😕 [ well. i have not read odyssey. but .. really ? ]

What??!!
How on earth is it based on ‘Odyssey’? Some strange analogy, I say…
I watched ‘Barton Fink’ and now I think that I am dense in certain brain quarters…:-)
Is it supposed to fall into the morbid-funny category of films? Maybe like certain portions of ‘Pulp Fiction’? I couldn’t really see the ‘great film’ bit in ‘Barton Fink’..

O brothers, you are great !!
Love the movie, love the OST 😀
As for the ‘Odyssey connection’, have you read this? I saw a movie on the Odyssey long ago, so only retained highlights – but even so, when i read about the connection after seeing ‘O brother …..’ it was as if a ‘light switched on in my my head’ 🙂 ……

The soundtrack is indeed amazing. I begged my cousin to get me a copy. That’s also the CD where I fell in love with Alison Krauss. She has an amazing voice.
Am yet to see the movie though 🙁

Quite a nice film. One of the things I really liked was they way the script has woven the lives of real Southerners into the lives of the characters.. eg. Robert Johnson, George Nelson a.k.a. Babyface, the Ku Klux Klan… some bits are funny.
