Pinch, Kaumudi and I have joined up for this beginners’ course in backpacking conducted by a students’ association in Georgia Tech. Attended a theory class for the same this Monday and tomorrow, all of us are scheduled for a day trip to a place called Fort Mountain. Ancient ruins, great views and a 8.2 mile loop, the e-mail said… God, a dozen treks down and yet, I can’t get rid of the trepidation and apprehension which precede EVERY damn trek I sign up for… sigh sigh…
Sometimes I wonder… In order to beat my supposed phobia of climbing, I try to go along for as many treks as possible… Why do I subject myself to these pre-trek-nightly tremors and pressures? It’d be infinitely simpler to accept that I am not very comfortable with climbing and stick to plateaus and plains… I dunno what to do… Maybe I can’t handle that kind of loser-attitude.. Pinch, my sis, my cousins.. no one seems to share this attitude..
Well, lets’ see what Fort Mountain brings along… Amen!

I think it’s commendable that you’re trying to overcome your supposed phobia – but if you still experience such discomfort after a few more treks, and not enough joy due to the treks themselves, perhaps it’d be better to discontinue.
Good luck for this one !!
