A s@#$%@#-up driving test, a passable GMAT score… Guess the score evens to ‘love all’.
P.S. I scored 710 on my GMAT. It will probably get me to the school I want but I can’t help wishing that I had a better score! Darn! No comments about the driving test, please…. I could drown in shame.

on the road test ? i flunked it twice. once for doing a dangerous lane change. another time for not waiting for a cyclist to pass by on a T-junction.
September 21, 2004 — 12:15 pm
Lakshmi says:
The first time, I flunked because I didn’t wait at a STOP sign. Atleast that’s what the examiner said. This time, I couldn’t reverse park!!!! Which I did the last time… *shakes head in consternation*

I heard that in CA you only have a road test i.e. no parking fundas tested. Really?

parallel parking. no reverse parking.

Congratulations!!! Way to go!
In most places, you can appear for another driving test after 24 hours or so. Have a go at it again. Tell the examiner that you scored 710 in GMAT, he will just sign off on the form right away.

arre chinta mat kar about the driving test…the first time i failed becos i forgot to turn where i was supposed to so i braked fatak se in the middle of the road and asked the officer if i should back up and take the turn….he then looks at me and says ki u know its illegal to back up in the middle of the road…..u should have seen the shocked look on his face when i braked hard……i given a comment which said.,…dangerous driver…immediate failure
another fellow i know did everything right and when he entered the complex where the BMV was…he was told he had passed…so he let go of the wheel and did the ‘jhakas’ action like Aamir Khan does in Andaaz Apna Apna….poor guy was failed immediately:)

Arre, this was my second attempt and I flunked b’coz I couldn’t do something that I’d practised a few million times and had definitely done successfully on my first attempt! Reverse park, that is…

hemya says:
idhar ohio mein acchha hain…no reverse parking/parallel parking stuff….seedha test and ek maneuverability test whichbasically stands in for the parking test….u have to drive up and reverse thru cones…i find that easier…..but the best thing is i flunked my written test for th bike ka license….bahut kheecha public ne uske baad

Not really sexy, Dee.. I mean, GMAT is damn simple and it’s not tough to get a higher score.

Congrats on the GMAT score. Hmmm… you really shouldn’t be so upset about the driving test when you’ve gotten into a good school right? I know I wouldn’t give a damn.
But this reminds of my driving test. The chap asked me to for a round and took off for a cup of tea. Thus, I can now drive a geared motorcycle, legally. Yes, welcome to namma bengaluru.

Talking of driving tests, a friend of mine got her driver’s license at home. That’s aamchi Mumbai, I guess.

Whoa whoa whoa. As I understand, 710 is a “okay, which school do you want to go to now” score. 🙂 Congratulations!
And driving tests are for lamers – real <insert_gender_neutral_yet_suitably_masochistic_term_here> get their licenses printed. 🙂
I got mine the hard way, but this is India. You can just pay the RTO to print it for you – cut out the middleman.

Hi Sathish!
By any chance, do I know you??!!!
Anyways, my advice… use KAPLAN. They’re good. Tougher than the actual GMAT but good prep. Princeton isn’t really worth the price. Finally, the Powerprep gives you a fair idea of your actual score. Best of luck and feel free to ask me anything else you wish to know. I’ve got stuff to share…:-)
